Bristol, CT
Alison Kost-McCallum began riding at the age of 8. Her first pony was purchased from
Leslie Desmond, famous author and horsemanship coach. During Alison's first year of
riding with Leslie,she learned to W/T/C and jump fences bareback before she earned
her saddle.
Alison was one of the founding members of the Mad River Pony Club and an active
pony clubber for 13 yrs. In 1997 she competed on her regions dressage team at the
USPC Nationals in Lexington, Virginia. Alison graduated pony club at the C3 level.
During her high school years Alison was a working student for Virginia and Jack Leary,
in Litchfield, CT. At the age of 18 Alison became a freelance instructor and a full time
employee at Lost Run Farm, helping the Leary's care for their horses, as well as riding
and competing clients' horses. Alison is a member of the USEA and has competed
various horses at recognized horse trials. She is also a member of the USEF and
USDF. Alison competed her Holsteiner gelding, Too Tall Jones, in dressage through
3rd level.
In 2003, Alison started Oakendale Farm LLC in Bristol, CT. Where she helps riders
and horses of all ages and levels create successful partnerships. Throughout the year,
Alison coaches her students at both schooling and recognized dressage shows, horse
shows and horse trials.
